Job Search Help
Searching for a job:
Select the jobs you want to view by entering information into the fields on the screen and pressing the <Search> button. This search engine only searches jobs — for other types of searches, please use our Site Search utility.
Guidelines for a search:
-
If you enter multiple keywords, you need enter a space between each word.
- The search is not case-sensitive (upper and lower case is ignored (e.g. BIG, Big and big are the same).
- The word(s) entered into the Keyword field must be greater than 2 characters.
- Special characters (e.g..$%&) are ignored.
- You can do string searches (search on a phrase) by enclosing the words in double-quotes (e.g. "Truck Driver" "Fork Lift Driver").
Keyword(s):
Enter Keyword(s) that you want the system to search for. Keyword(s) are words, phrases and expressions that you enter to locate a job. They are used to help you match your skills, background, qualifications and experience to a job posting. A Keyword may be a specific skill-related word such as "Excel" or "Word", or a Job Title such as "Executive Assistant".
Your search may contain one or many words. To maximize your search you should enter a variety of Keywords. The system allows you to search for partial words that are part of other words. (e.g. "elf" results in job postings containing the words self, elf, shelf, himself, herself, yourself, etc.).
And/Or — Match Methods:
You can expand or narrow your search by using the And/Or matching methods:
- Select the Contains all keywords option if you want the system to display only those documents that have all of the words you entered. This is considered an "AND" condition.
- Select the Contains at least one keyword option if you want the system to display any documents that has at least 1 or more of the words you entered. This is considered an "OR" condition.
Job Type:
The Type selector allows you to narrow or expand your search. Choose the type of position you would like to view.
- A choice of All Types will result in no restrictions — in other words, all the jobs that have your keywords will appear in the list, without regard to Job Type.
- You have various Job Types to select from: Full Time, Part Time, Permanent Placement, Temp-to-Hire, Contract, and Temporary.
- A choice of a Temporary Job Type results in the list showing only positions specified as a Temporary position.
Location City and State:
You can specify the City and/or State for which you would like to view open positions. The Search results in a list of positions matching your Keywords and Job Type selections for the selected City and/or State(s).
- If the City field is blank and the State field is set to All States the search displays job postings for ALL cities and states matching your Keywords and Job Type.
- If the City field is blank the search looks for matches within the specified state that matches your Keywords and Job Type.
- If the State field is set to All States the search displays job postings for the specified City in any state that matches your Keywords and Job Type.
- Note: Sometimes a city outside of your search area will display. This is the location of the Westaff office posting the position that matched your search.
Search Button:
- Click on the <Search> button when you are satisfied that you have the selections the way you want them.
